From October 9-10, 2025, in Tirana, Study in Europe organized a policy dialogue on higher education and the Erasmus+ contact seminar for establishing cooperation between higher education institutions from the Western Balkans and EU countries, under the title “Strengthening Erasmus+ cooperation with the Western Balkans Region”.
The event brought together representatives from more than 40 European higher education institutions and national agencies from 15 European countries, EUA, EQAR, and many others, as well as representatives from the Western Balkans.
The event provided an opportunity to discuss important topics in the field of higher education, such as recognition, automatic recognition in practice, quality assurance in higher education, and many others.
On the first day, the president of the HERE team, prof. Mira Vukčević, spoke on the topic of national policies in the area of recognition and quality assurance, the legislative framework, and challenges at the national level.
On the second day, the Head of the National Erasmus+ Office, Ms. Vanja Drljević, together with the coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Tirana, Mr. Geron Kamberi, gave a presentation on the Erasmus+ action Erasmus Mundus – Steps towards Joint Erasmus Mundus master programmes. They emphasized the opportunities for stronger participation of Montenegro in these types of projects, presenting concrete examples from Montenegro that could serve as a good basis for participation in joint Erasmus Mundus master programmes, thereby strengthening institutional cooperation and regional connectivity. Such projects can significantly contribute to improving quality, as well as enhancing the visibility and reputation of higher education institutions from Montenegro in Europe and worldwide.
The seminar served as an opportunity to further strengthen and deepen cooperation between Montenegro, EU countries, and the Western Balkans region.
