We are pleased to inform you that, from 14 to 15 October 2026, the National Erasmus+ Agency for Higher Education DAAD and the National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro organised the international Training and Cooperation Activities (TCA) seminar entitled “Western Balkans in the focus: Promoting and deepening cooperation in the Erasmus+ programme” at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Podgorica. The event brought together around 120 participants, including representatives of higher education institutions from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, as well as Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. This seminar was preceded on 13 October by visits to the University of Montenegro, the University of Donja Gorica, Mediterranean University, and the Faculty of Montenegrin language and literature by representatives of the aforementioned EU countries participating in the seminar.
The aim of this highly significant event was to strengthen cooperation in higher education between countries fully participating in the Erasmus+ programme (Germany, Poland, Austria, and the Czech Republic) and the countries of the Western Balkans within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.
During the networking seminar, participants were informed about funding opportunities available under Erasmus+ programme, the European Union’s largest programme in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport. Particular emphasis was placed on Key Action 1 – Learning Mobility, Key Action 2 – Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programmes, and Jean Monnet activities.
Thematic workshops also provided participants with an opportunity to discuss issues of importance to the entire European Higher Education Area, including skills development, recognition of qualifications, entrepreneurship, joint study programmes, and the impact and synergies of cooperation in education, while also addressing various challenges in these areas.
In addition to representatives of the academic community from different countries, the event brought together ambassadors of the EU Member States participating in the seminar, ambassadors of Western Balkan countries, representatives of Montenegro’s Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and representatives of National Erasmus+ offices from across the region. Vanja Drljević, Head of National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro; Beate Körner, National agency DAAD Germany; Tatjana Ćalasan, State secretary at the Ministry of education, science and innovation of Montenegro; dr.
